Our Story

us

It was love at first swipe.
… and a few small exchanges about travel.
Those casual chats quickly turned into hours of talking, two back-to-back video calls in one day, and the quiet realization of, this might actually be something.

From our first video call on December 20, 2023, to meeting in person just two days later, followed by meeting friends at a Christmas party on date #2 the very next day, things moved quickly in a way that just felt right. Six days after that first call, Misha asked Amelia to be his girlfriend. A mix of excitement and shock overcame Amelia, but the rest is history.

Within weeks, we were traveling to Canada, Vermont, and Europe, getting matching tattoos, and deciding to build a life together by day 100.

Since then, we've shared countless adventures: 11 countries (with a few repeats and many more to come), 7+ states, endless hikes, a couple volcanoes, spontaneous trips (including the time Amelia surprised Misha with a trip to Colombia and he didn't know where they were going until they arrived), and multiple well-documented spreadsheets to manage our lives, because love is also about the little details and building a future together.

What started as a simple swipe turned into something we never saw coming, and something we're endlessly grateful for as we continue choosing each other and our boys every day.

690 days later.

We were both so excited to return to Japan, this time together (!!), on the beautiful island of Kyushu. A few days later, on the quiet trails of Mt. Aso in Kumamoto, everything fell into place. Misha asked a passing jogger to capture the moment on video.

As Misha started speaking, Amelia thought it was still just part of the photos, until he got down on one knee.

And just like that, in a moment that felt perfect in every way, it was an easy yes!

FAQ

Post-celebration, from Saturday, September 5 – Sunday, September 6, we're providing (5) complimentary private bedrooms at the barn, along with (4) shared bathrooms. If you're interested in staying on-site, please let us know as soon as possible and we'll confirm availability. Please text Amelia at 646-920-2111.

For guests staying at the barn, there are essentials provided (ie. towels, soap) & we're stocking the (2) kitchens with light breakfast items such as eggs, bread, instant coffee, and tea. Please help yourself in the morning and kindly tidy up any utensils used before heading out.

Check out on Sunday, September 6 before 11 AM.

As our celebration is on the smaller side, we do not have a hotel block reserved. The Chateau Hathorn, a smaller hotel, is a 9 min drive from the barn and does not require a minimum night stay. Our recommendation is to look for a BNB nearby vs hotel as there will be more options available.

Guests staying overnight should arrange their own transportation, as transportation back to NYC will not be provided on Sunday, September 6.
Children of all ages are welcome. We intentionally chose a spacious venue with bedrooms to create a more relaxed setting, along with a private room for naps, changing & storage as needed. You're welcome to use our designated bedroom for those purposes; on-site staff will direct you.

We're unable to accommodate custom meals for your children. You're welcome to bring any snacks, food, supplies, or toys your children may need. Since this is a private venue, outside food and personal items are absolutely welcome.

We will also have lawn games (weather-contingent) as well as light coloring activities indoors.
While we would love to see your fur babies, we kindly ask that you leave them at home. As this is a rental, we want to be mindful of the space and considerate of any guest allergies.
This is not a black tie affair. We're hoping for beautiful weather; wear something fun, colorful, or floral, whatever makes you feel your best. We will have professional photography on-site.
Yes, there will be plenty of parking available on-site throughout the property. As you get closer to the barn, on-site attendants will help direct parking. If you're among the first guests to arrive, please park where directed or near other parked cars.
Yes. As of May 2026, you can take approximately a 2-hour bus ride from Port Authority Bus Terminal (Times Square area) to a stop within a short walk of the barn.

Take NJ Transit Bus 197 (Warwick via Willowbrook) to the Rt-17A at Overlook Dr stop.

Please double check routes and schedules closer to the celebration date, as public transportation options are subject to change and we may not update this section.
If you decide to make it a full weekend experience, there are plenty of attractions nearby including wineries, nature walks, hiking (ie. Appalachian Trail Boardwalk, Pochuck Boardwalk Suspension Bridge, Cascade Lake, Stairway to Heaven).
